Putting a smartphone on overnight charge is not a big hassle—unless you forget and run out of battery in the middle of a conversation. Thanks to continually rising fast-charging capabilities from device manufacturers, full top-ups can now be completed in minutes. Shenzhen's Realme recently debuted the quickest to date.

The Realme GT Neo 5 smartphone is only now offered in China, and even if it becomes accessible elsewhere, Americans are unlikely to be invited to the launch event.

The device's standout feature is a 4,600-mAh battery that supports 240-W fast-charging over USB-C using the included 20-V/12-A converter. This battery provides 2 hours of talk time for 30 seconds on charge and can be fully charged in less than 10 minutes.

For added security, Realme has obtained TÜV Rheinland safety certification. The phone also features a multi-component cooling architecture incorporating dual-phase heat dissipation, a huge vapor chamber, and phase-change materials.

The smartphone has a 6.74-inch, 2,772 x 1,240-pixel AMOLED display with a 144-Hz adaptive refresh rate, 1,400 nits of peak brightness, and support for 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut in addition to rapid charging. Mobile gamers will also like the 1,500-Hz touch response.

It is supported by 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of storage and is based on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform, which, while not Qualcomm's newest and greatest, should nonetheless show to be quite the performer.

The 50-MP main camera, which is built around Sony's IMX890 sensor and offers optical image stabilization, is complemented by an 8-MP ultra-wide and a 2-MP macro lens to meet the demands of mobile photography and movie-making. A quirky rectangular RGB LED "halo" for charging status and notifications is located to the right of the camera bump. Additionally, the display has a 16-MP selfie cam punch-holed for 1080p video conversations.

Along with 5G mobile connectivity, the phone also features Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi, Realme's UI 4.0, which is based on Android 13, and Dolby Atmos speakers.

The GT Neo 5 240W variant has a starting price of CNY 3,199 (approximately US$470), though it's doubtful that this smartphone will be sold in North America as already noted. There is also a 150-W variant with a little larger battery and more RAM and storage options.

Realme GT Neo 5 240W price in Pakistan is expected to start from 74,999 RS/
