To honor Madhu Lal Hussain's urs, the Punjab government has proclaimed March 11 (Saturday) a national holiday in Lahore.

According to a notice from the Punjab Home Department, the Lahore District will be closed to business on this day.

The occasion is set aside especially to honor the urs. In addition, March 11 will be a holiday for all school establishments.

The poet and Sufi mystic Madhu Lal Hussain resided in the sixteenth century in Lahore, now in modern-day Pakistan. Both Muslims and Hindus in the area revere him because he is generally regarded as a sign of love and religious tolerance.

The word of Madhu Lal Hussain was one of compassion for all people. His lessons strongly emphasized the value of interior purity and spiritual awareness, and he is said to have led a straightforward and humble existence.

In his honor, a three-day urs of Madhu Lal Hussain is conducted yearly in Lahore, where devotees of various religions congregate to offer their respects. The festival is an important cultural occasion in the region and a representation of interfaith harmony and unity.
