With franchise cricket growing in popularity, the game of cricket has experienced a significant metamorphosis in recent years. With the most recent indication that Saudi Arabia is interested in establishing the wealthiest franchise league in the world, doubts about the future of cricket are at an all-time high.

With this in mind, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) club feels the time is right to establish a regulatory body to manage franchise T20 competitions worldwide.

On Twitter, Javed Afridi suggested the Council of Franchise Leagues as the supreme governing body for franchise cricket. To all parties involved, including franchise owners and players, it would offer guidance, support, and orientation.

He said that the council's main goal will be to make sure that the sport is handled in a fair, open, and unbiased way and that all teams, regardless of their size or financial resources, will have an equal opportunity to compete.

Javed Afridi went on to say that they have the capacity to make significant changes in the game of cricket as a group of cricket fans and owners of various franchises throughout the world. He exhorted the participants to work to create a promising future for franchise T20 cricket throughout the world.
