The bowlers who have distinguished themselves as up-and-coming stars in the last seven seasons of the Pakistan Super League make up a large portion of the current national team (PSL).
These champions include some who are presently rated in the top three of the ICC standings and some who have gone on to win numerous ICC honors in recent years.
Let's take a peek at five up-and-coming players who have so far made an impression in PSL 8:
Ihsanullah:
The exploits of their rising star, Ihsanullah, have been one thing that has been quite evident in Multan Sultans' fantastic start to the competition.
Mohammad Rizwan, the skipper of the Sultans, is the hitting unit's backbone; Ihsanullah, a right-arm pacer, is the bowling unit's spirit.
In the opening PSL match against the Lahore Qalandars, Ihsanullah's bowling abilities were put to the test. He completed his stint with 37 runs given up and two wickets taken.
His finest effort this season came against Gladiators in their second game, where he established himself as the season's top wicket-taker and continues to hold that position.
With pure speed and spin, the 20-year-old pacer destroyed the Sarfaraz-led batting order, ending his bowling stint with 5 for 12 in his 4 overs and recording his career-best bowling statistics.
In their third encounter, the speedster kept up his pace against Zalmi, getting three wickets, including that of Babar Azam, whom he dubbed his "dream wicket."
After taking 2 for 19 against Islamabad United, the youthful bowler failed to pick up a wicket against Karachi Kings despite only giving up 17 runs in four overs.
The right-arm bowler currently holds the top spot in the ongoing competition after getting 12 wickets in five games for an average of 13.70 and a 5.54 economy rate.
Matches | Overs | Wickets | Average | Economy Rate |
5 | 19.4 | 12 | 13.70 | 5.54 |
Abbas Afridi:
Shahnawaz Dahani's illness in the first game allowed juvenile Abbas Afridi to join the playing Eleven and show off his bowling ability.
The right-arm bowler took two wickets and allowed 27 runs against Gladiators in his first game of the season, assisting his team in resoundingly defeating the opposition.
Abbas' next match was against Zalmi, and he eliminated the in-form Mohammad Haris and the West Indian Rovman Powell to help his team win by 56 runs.
Against Shadab Khan's Islamabad United, the 21-year-old pacer was at his best, decimating the opposing batting order with a run of 4 for 22 in four overs.
The true test of Abbas's ability to handle pressure came when he was allowed to bowl the last, most important over while Imad Wasim and Ben Cutting were on the wicket for Karachi Kings.
The right-arm pacer not only stopped 22 runs from being scored in his final over by getting rid of Ben Cutting, but he also disrupted the Karachi Kings' flow by eliminating Shoaib Malik earlier in the game.
With 10 wickets in four games at an average of 13.70 and an economy rate of 9.90, the rising talent is presently the second-highest wicket-taker of the season.
Match | Overs | Wickets | Average | Economy Rate |
4 | 13.5 | 10 | 13.70 | 9.90 |
Mirza Tahir Baig:
The Lahore Qalandars chose the fashionable starting batter, Mirza Tahir Baig, in the PSL 2023 selection as an emerging talent. In the current competition, he has been given the assignment of opening the sessions alongside Fakhar Zaman.
The burgeoning cricketer, who began his professional career this season, has garnered attention for his abilities and demeanor despite having yet to play a particularly important large game for his team.
For the first game against the Sultans, Mirza Baig was introduced to the starting Eleven. His 32-run innings and 61-run partnership with Zaman enabled Qalandars to earn their first victory.
In their second match against Karachi Kings, the opener continued to lead his side in scoring with 45 runs off 39 deliveries, including three boundaries and two sixes.
In their third encounter against Quetta Gladiators, Mirza confronted one of the PSL's most deadly bowling attacks and scored 31 off 15 deliveries, including four boundaries and two sixes.
In his matches against the Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, and Quetta Gladiators, the right-hander combined with Fakhar Zaman for partnerships of 61, 40, and 49 runs, respectively.

But Saim has only thus far demonstrated his ability in one game in the current PSL 8 season. Against Multan Sultans, the left-handed batsman got 53 runs off 37 balls, including three boundaries and the same number of maximums.
