Smartphones with a sizable interior screen that can be folded out across a hinge for better gameplay, movie viewing, or work have been around for a while, and sliding ideas have also been used to increase display space. For the Flex Hybrid, Samsung Display has now merged the two.

You could be excused for thinking that the Flex Hybrid is being marketed for upcoming devices based on the renders that are currently accessible, but Samsung Display believes that the fusion of flexible and slidable display technologies will be prototyped in upcoming laptops.

On the left side of the idea, you can find the folding component of the display equation. A 10.5-inch OLED screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio is presented to users when the phone is spread out across the hinge, much like Samsung's Fold and Flip devices. But if you require more, a slide-out screen to the right allows the viewing area to be increased to 12.4 square inches at 16:10.

At this early stage, more specific specifications haven't been released, but the flexible idea is being displayed at CES 2023 and could be especially helpful for mobile employees who are limited by room.

Two additional Flex screens, which were first displayed as part of the Intel Innovation Day One keynote in September of last year, have joined the "future smart mobile gadget.

The Flex Slidable Duet expands on both edges of the monitor, whereas the Flex Slidable Solo only slides out from one side. Users can choose between a 13/14-inch and a 17.3-inch OLED screen, "for multitasking reasons, playing games, or viewing movies," in either case.
