The Finance Department's decision to refuse the 15% stipend for university teachers and staff has been denounced in a statement from the Punjab chapter of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA).

Professor Dr. Muhammad Azhar Naeem, head of FAPUASA Punjab, has contested the Finance Department's claim that university lecturers are not government employees because colleges are autonomous institutions. He described this strategy as a hegemonic move meant to deprive university workers of their legal rights.

Dr. Naeem believes that the exclusion of university employees from the stipend is a blatant instance of prejudice, particularly in light of the fact that employees of all other autonomous organizations, including federal officials from BS-20 and 21, receive the same payout at a rate of 150 percent.

In reaction, FAPUASA Punjab has written to the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, the Chief Minister, and the Governor of Punjab to request their intervention and support for the equitable distribution of this stipend to university faculty and staff.
