The management and faculty are at odds, which has led to a chaotic scenario at the University of Peshawar (UoP). Employees are demonstrating the vice chancellor's departure, and students are asking for a reimbursement of their semester costs and an early start to their classes.

The vice-chancellor (VC) has been making severe allegations against a number of faculty members in the meantime, which has escalated the situation.

On Monday, a group of Class IV workers attempted to sneak into the VC's office, but the president of the Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) and the chairman of the Joint Action Committee intervened and dissuaded them.

The VC's remarks, which include a warning to delay their pay and accusations of fraudulent degrees against some academic staff, have infuriated the workers. These allegations have been refuted by PUTA, which asserts that the vice-chancellor makes them in order to exert pressure on the staff during demonstrations.

Four weeks have passed since employees began to demonstrate, calling for the vice-chancellor's dismissal and a separate inquiry into the death of security adviser Saqlain Bangash. Students are also impacted by the ongoing demonstration, and their leaders want the issue resolved quickly.

The present condition remains unresolved despite numerous consultations between the vice-chancellors of different colleges and senior officials. The administration has been granted three days to fire the vice-chancellor; if it doesn't, the joint action committee will move their demonstration camp to the main Jamrud Road and stay there until the problem is settled.
