The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has required the study of the Holy Quran as a necessary prerequisite for receiving a bachelor's degree in institutions all across the nation, which is a significant development.

According to a letter from the HEC Advisor (Academics, Curriculum & NAHE), Muhammad Raza Chohan, universities and degree-awarding institutions (DAIs) are required to offer a course on the study of the Holy Quran for Muslim students that includes translation, tajwid, and Tafseer. This letter is available with ProPakistani.

The message went on to say that the course would not be given credit and wouldn't have any extra grades or credit hours. Beginning in the fall of 2023, this subject will be required of all college students.

The choice was made in reaction to Senate Resolution No. that was authorized on January 16, number 533 2023. Universities and DAIs are also required by HEC to file a conformance report by June 30.

To sum up, in Pakistani universities, the teaching of the Holy Quran will now be a mandatory component of undergraduate instruction with the goal of giving students a better grasp of their religion and the principles it supports.
