In Australia, Toyota has expanded the variety of Hilux pickup vehicles by adding another model. The updated model, the Hilux GR Sport, has more muscle and marginally more speed.

A number of surveillance photos suggest that the Hilux GR Sport will soon enter the Thai auto market. However, Toyota intends to introduce it in Australia in H2, 2023.

It has new rims, off-road tires, wider wheel arches, a higher posture, a new front bumper and grille design, and some external ornamental trim pieces. According to a source, the Ford Ranger Raptor and the Hilux GR Sport are straight competitors.

Details:

A similar turbocharged, 4-cylinder, 2.8-liter diesel engine powers the Hilux GR Sport and is tuned to produce 500 Newton-meters of torque and 220 horsepower (almost 20 more than the regular version). The engine has a 6-speed automatic transmission for off-road travel with a four-wheel-drive setting and lockable differentials.

A rear stabilizer bar, 18-inch alloy rims, and back-ventilated disc brakes are just a few of the enhancements offered by GR Sport. Its ride height is 20 millimeters higher than all other variants except Rogue, providing for greater ground clearance, thanks to some modest suspension upgrades.

In comparison to other versions, GR Sport also has front rims that are 140mm wider and back wheels that are 155mm wider. In this instance, the broader footprint enables greater surface grip.
