Azhar Mahmood, a former all-rounder, expressed his dissatisfaction with the PCB's hiring practises when he claimed that he was willing to lead Pakistan but that the PCB changed its mind at the last minute and hired Abdul Rehman instead.

Azhar Mahmood, a former fast bowler for Pakistan, has voiced his worries over the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) decision-making process and its effects on the managerial stability of the squad. Mahmood, who was allegedly a strong candidate for the head coaching job, was not chosen for the series against Afghanistan, which prompted him to express his displeasure with the board's actions.

According to an interview with Azhar Mahmood, the board's decision-making procedure can be inconsistent and unpredictable, which can result in a lack of stability in the management of the Pakistan cricket team.

He clarified that the rumours that he had refused to lead Pakistan's coaching staff were untrue. Azhar Mahmood made it clear that while he was willing to join the team for the Afghanistan series, he was unable to make a long-term commitment due to his agreement with Surrey County Club.

He emphasised that it was false to say that he had declined to serve as the head coach of Pakistan's coaching staff. Azhar Mahmood made it clear that, despite his willingness to join the team for the Afghanistan series, his agreement with Surrey County Club prevented him from making a long-term commitment.

He also addressed Mickey Arthur's predicament, who served as the Pakistani team's head coach previously and whom the board is apparently eager to hire as head coach.

Azhar Mahmood asserts that Mickey Arthur is fully aware of the shifting conditions in Pakistan cricket and will value his three-year contract with Derbyshire over taking on the full-time coaching role for Pakistan in a precarious situation because Arthur is unwilling to renounce his agreement with Derbyshire.

Mickey Arthur will shortly join the group as a consultant, but he hasn't committed to the PCB in the long run.

Azhar Mahmood commented on the circumstance and questioned the PCB's unsure approach to the hiring procedure. He claimed that because it causes confusion and problems in the system, he is doubtful of how long this strategy will be effective for the PCB.
