The PCB Management Committee Chair, Mr. Najam Sethi, approved the selection of Nida Dar as the captain of the Pakistan women's team, Mark Coles as the team's head coach, and Saleem Jaffar as the chair of the women's selection committee. These are all significant appointments.


The selections have been made in light of the PCB's vision and goal to spend more in women's cricket as well as the impending international assignments, which include hosting South Africa as well as travels to Bangladesh and New Zealand for the ICC Women's Championship 2022–25 matches.


The Pakistan women's squad is set to play five bilateral cricket series, totaling 15 ICC Women's Championship 2022–25 ODIs, during an 11-month span from August 2023 to July 2024.


Pakistan will play up to 17 T20 Internationals in addition to these 50-over matches. The 10-team ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and the eight-team ICC Women's World Cup in India, which will take place in 2024 and 2025, respectively, will be preceded by these ODIs and T20Is.


Nida replaced Bismah Maroof as captain after the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2023 after she won the PCB Women's Cricketer of the Year award for 2021.

Nida is one of the most seasoned athletes in the nation, having played for Pakistan in 99 ODIs and 130 T20Is. With 126 wickets under her belt, she is also the top wicket-taker in women's T20 international cricket.

Nida also competed for Pakistan in the teams that won gold at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, in 2010 and Incheon, South Korea, in 2014. She played in Australia's women's franchise cricket for the first time in 2019 as a Pakistani women's cricketer.

From 2017 to 2019, Mark Coles led the Pakistan women's cricket team to significant victories, including a fifth-place finish in the ICC Women's Championship 2017–2020, It made it possible for the squad to earn a spot in the 2022 ICC Women's World Cup.
